"Then & Now" was a profound, documentary-style augmented reality exhibition launched in late 2020 by HuffPost, Verizon Media, and RYOT Lab to explore global transformation during a historic year. Developed in collaboration with The Everyday Projects community team, the immersive experience served as a virtual gallery showcasing the powerful storytelling of five international documentary photographers, including Yoriyas Yassine Alaoui Ismaili, Danielle Villasana, and Sheila Pree Bright. The integration allowed mobile users to bypass app downloads entirely and project a fully curated virtual exhibition of 26 era-defining photographs directly into their immediate living spaces using web-native AR technology. By overlaying spatial high-fidelity imagery with intimate, integrated audio commentary from the photographers themselves, the tech-forward campaign successfully pioneered a frictionless, universally accessible medium for documentary photojournalism and human connection in an era marked by physical isolation
