Smithsonian x Yahoo: Immersive Historical Archiving was a pioneering WebAR initiative developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution and Verizon Media to democratize access to global cultural heritage. The project leveraged advanced Web-based Augmented Reality and high-fidelity 3D modeling to bring priceless museum artifacts, including the iconic 1903 Wright Flyer and cosmic supernova models, directly into the physical spaces of remote learners. By eliminating the friction of app downloads and incorporating localized spatial audio narration, the campaign successfully transformed mobile browsers into dynamic learning portals. This intersection of technology and historical archiving set a new standard for interactive education, making history tangibly accessible to audiences worldwide.
