"The Immersive Red Carpet and Roundtable Experience" was a cutting-edge web-based augmented reality integration launched in early 2021 as the inaugural project of an XR storytelling partnership between The Hollywood Reporter and Yahoo RYOT Lab. Designed as an interactive spin-off of the publication's famous Oscar Roundtable video series, the campaign brought the high-glamor awards season directly to viewers at a time when live audiences faced heavy pandemic-era restrictions. Built using the proprietary Yahoo Immersive Platform, the webAR execution allowed desktop and mobile users to bypass standalone app downloads entirely and project realistic, 3D animated versions of Academy Award nominees walking a virtual red carpet directly into their homes. By syncing these high-fidelity spatial models with integrated, audio-enabled sound bites and exclusive interview clips from the nominee roundtables, the tech-forward media collaboration successfully bridged fine entertainment journalism with consumer-facing spatial computing
